Mission Statement

The purpose of the Department of Christian Defense is to proclaim and defend the gospel of Jesus Christ against those who controvert the essentials of historic biblical faith. Also to provide information to educate and equip Christians to reasonably and confidently share their faith with members of non-Christian cults and anyone that denies the fundamental doctrines of the Christian faith: The doctrine of the ontological Trinity; one eternal God; Jesus as the eternal God; the physical resurrection of Jesus Christ, justification through faith alone, Scripture as the sole infallible authoritative regula fidei ("rule of faith") for the church, the virgin birth.

The Department of Christian Defense has always, emphasized the Person, nature, and finished work of the two natured Person Jesus Christ. All heresies, in some way, shape, or form, redefine the Person of the Son, Jesus Christ. The first Christological heresy that the church had to deal with was a denial of His humanity (e.g., Docetic Gnosticism; cf. Col. 2:9; 1 John 4:1-3; 2 John 7). But shortly thereafter and presently virtually all Christological heresies deny the full deity of Christ and that He is a distinct Person from His Father and the Holy Spirit. Further, all non-Christian cults and world-religions either deny (a) ontological monotheism (i.e., one true eternal God [without beginning]) and/or (b) that Jesus Christ is the eternal God, coequal coexistent and coeternal with the Father and the Holy Spirit, that is, the Tri-Unity of God.

The founder and Director of the Department of Christian Defense, Dr. Edward L. Dalcour holds a Master of Apologetics (from Columbia Evangelical Seminary) and a Ph.D. in Dogmatic Theology from North West University (Potchefstroom campus, SA). He is a Christian apologist focusing on the theology and critical analysis of non-Christian cults. While Mormonism, Jehovah’s Witnesses, and Oneness Pentecostalism (i.e., Modalism) have been his primary area of concentration. Throughout the years, his intensive research and personal experience dialoguing and interfacing with cult devotees have enabled him to develop witnessing tools that are greatly efficacious for the Christian church. Dr. Dalcour has lectured on the subject of apologetics and cult evangelism in churches and other Christian and secular venues worldwide. He has been featured on various Christian television networks and radio talk shows. Dr. Dalcour has authored the most current and exegetically treated work on "Oneness theology" entitled, *A Definitive Look at Oneness Theology: Defending the Tri-Unity of God* (University Press, 2004; you can get here: http://www.christiandefense.org/products.htm).

Their perverse teachings [i.e., Valentinian doctrines i.e., Gnosticism] are cast down and overthrown, and, such as they really are, laid bare and open to view. But in this, the third book I shall adduce proofs from the Scriptures, so that I may come behind in nothing of what thou hast enjoined; yea, that over and above what thou didst reckon upon, thou mayest receive from me the means of combating and vanquishing those who, in whatever manner, are propagating falsehood (Irenaeus bishop of Lyons A Refutation and Overthrow of Knowledge Falsely So-Called [Against Heresies] bk. 3 preface)..
